President H.E. Dr. Mohamed Muizzu met with H.E. Fiamē Naomi Mata'afa, the Prime Minister of Samoa, in Antigua and Barbuda today, on the sidelines of the fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4).
During the meeting, President Dr. Muizzu emphasized his administration's commitment to combating the climate crisis. He outlined various measures his administration has taken to address climate mitigation. In response, Prime Minister Mata'afa shared the challenges faced by Samoa and underscored the importance of solidarity among Small Island Developing States (SIDS) to overcome these obstacles.
The two leaders also discussed the difficulties in securing financing for development and explored alternative solutions. President Dr. Muizzu expressed his gratitude to Samoa for its leadership as the Chair of the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS).
The Maldives and Samoa have enjoyed diplomatic relations since August 2, 1993.
