A Political Platform Change in Addu as Azaan Secures Seat

Ahmed Azaan Marzooq, who contested the Hithadhoo Central constituency on the People’s National Congress (PNC) ticket, has been confirmed as the winner of the seat.
Azaan has won the Hithadhoo Central seat by securing the majority of the votes from the area. He is the man who has revolutionized the political history of Addu by shifting the MDP's long-standing majority in the region to the ruling PPM/PNC faction. Prior to this, the MDP held 7 of the 8 constituencies in Addu City, but this has changed since yesterday’s parliamentary election.
As the founder of both Dhiyares and The Maldives Journal, Azaan has done a great deal to expose the previously unknown actions of the MDP government during their 5 years in power, such as corruption and undermining of the sovereignty and independence of the country.
Azaan contested this election with policies to reform the Parliament and to help fulfill the promises made by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to Addu.
He holds a degree in international relations from Azerbaijan and is known for being one of the most frequent users of the Right to Information Act in Maldives to bring information to the people during the MDP’s administration.
