The Malé Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has been awarded the contract to upgrade the water system in Addu.
The agreement was signed by State Minister Ibrahim Thaamu Mohamed on behalf of the Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure. MWSC Managing Director Abdul Matheen Mohamed on behalf of the company.
Under the agreement, a system will be established to produce 1,500 tonnes of drinking water per day in Addu. In addition, three 2,000-ton tanks and three 1,000-ton tanks will be installed.
Under the agreement, the RO facility building will be developed, boreholes will be drilled, pipes will be laid and a solar PV system will be installed. Therefore, the project will cost 282 million MVR, the ministry said.
The agreement signed with MWSC today does not only include upgrading the water system. After the water system is upgraded, training programs will be conducted on how to maintain the system and maintain the areas.
