Islam should no longer be allowed to be ridiculed and belittled, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said.
President Dr. Muizzu stated this while speaking at the opening of the campaign booth of Yoosuf Nasheed, who is contesting the upcoming parliamentary elections on 21st of this month behalf of the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC).
The President said the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) should remember that it made fun of religion when it had a super majority in the current parliament and when the previous government was in power.
President Dr. Muizzu said the PNC members should be elected to Parliament to prevent the country from going in that direction.
"The MDN report not only made fun of our Prophet (SAW) and the main sources of our faith, but also spent five years paying the people who made the report with the money of the people," he said.
The President said that is what the MDP did when it had a super majority and still has such a large majority in parliament.
He said the effort must be undertaken to elect members of Parliament who will work with the people in the pro-Maldives mindset to take the affairs of this country to the goals that the people aspire to.
