Opposition Tries to Undermine Credibility of Financial System Due to Political Frustration: Minister Saeed

Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed has said that some people are trying to undermine the credibility of the financial system out of political frustration.

Minister Saeed wrote in a post on X in response to rumors circulating on social media that Maldives has decided to participate in an IMF bankruptcy program as a result of defaulting on debt.

The minister said individuals among the opposition are trying to undermine the credibility of the financial system because they are politically disappointed that the country has not fallen into the economic pit the previous government created.

"Maldives does not have to participate in any particular programme. The economic situation is improving faster than previously expected," Saeed said in his post.
