India Agrees to Withdraw Troops by May 10th

India has agreed to withdraw all Indian troops from Maldives by May 10th this year, following President Dr. Muizzu’s request that they remove their military presence from the country.
The country thus agreed during the high-level talks between Maldives and India. The country has agreed to withdraw Indian troops and send civilians to operate the vehicles left behind.
The External Affairs Ministry said in a statement that India will be removing the troops operating one of the three vehicles in Maldives by March 10th, with the remaining operators of the other two vehicles being removed by the 10th of May.
