The Local Government Authority (LGA) has decided to establish a framework for all councils to improve the their administrative systems, CEO of LGA, Dr. Maryam Zulfa said.
Dr. Zulfa was speaking at the launch of a training program on the implementation of the Housing Tenancy Act.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Zulfa said that councils are very important institutions in the administration of the state.
She highlighted the importance of the councils, explaining that they are there to protect the rights of the people and provide services to the people. The people closest to the citizens are the councilors and the employees of the councils.
Dr. Zulfa said the most relevant provision of the Decentralization Act is Article 40 of the Act. The spirit of this law is to encourage the collaboration of all government agencies, she said.
She further stated that the decentralization structure is now strong and flexible. And what needs to be done now is to get the system running properly. She added that President Muizzu's manifesto has included comprehensive decentralization measures.
In addition, Dr. Zulfa's speech highlighted the work being done by the LGA, assuring that agency will be monitoring the work of the all councils.
“We will establish a framework to strengthen the administrative system of all councils,” he said.
Dr. Zulfa added that the LGA is one of the technical arms of President Dr. Muizzu’s administration, and the agency will continue to provide advice to councils and other agencies, and build the capacity of the LGA.
