China Calls for Palestinian State and Immediate Ceasefire

In a meeting with the press, Deputy Minister of the International Liaison Department of the Chinese Communist Party, Sun Haiyan, stated that China has supported an independent Palestinian state for decades, and continues to echo these calls in the international arena.

This comes following the Chinese Foreign Minister’s visit to Cairo, Egypt, where FM Wang Yi called for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, as well as an immediate ceasefire. Israel’s genocide of Palestinians in the last 100 days has seen the senseless murder of tens of thousands of innocent civilians, with confirmed numbers from the Palestinian Health Authority reaching over 24,000.

The Foreign Minister stated that, “It is necessary to insist on the establishment of an independent, fully sovereign state of Palestine, according to the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.”

The Palestinian Envoy to the UN has thanked China for being a “true friend,” following Wang Yi’s comments. China continues to provide humanitarian assistance to those affected by the conflict, and plans to send a third round of emergency aid to Gaza.
