Parliamentary Election Timeline Announced

The Election Commission (EC) has announced the timeline for this year’s parliamentary elections.
The parliamentary elections are scheduled for March. The register of eligible voters is now open for complaints.
Election timeline:
  • 1. Eligible Voters Register open to the public for complaints: 10 January - 21 January
  • 2. Announcement of elections: 30 January
  • 3. Open for complaints on changes in the register of eligible voters: 30 January - 10 February
  • 4. Deadline for nomination of candidates: 31 January - 14 February
  • 5. Application Period for Observers and Monitors (Sri Lankan and International): 31 January - 19 February
  • 6. Re-registration period: 1st February - 7th February
  • 7. Orderly Announcement of Candidates: 14 February
  • 8. Representative Application Period: 16 February - 23 February
  • 9. Trainers Training Programme: 18 February - 24 February
  • 10. Officers Training Program 26 February - 11 March
  • 11. Date of Election: 17 March
