Pakistan High Commission in Maldives Celebrates 23rd March with National Spirit
The Pakistan High Commission in Maldives celebrated Pakistan Day on March 23 with great enthusiasm and national spirit. A flag hoisting ceremony was held at the High Commission at 9:00 am, where the national anthem was played while H.E. Vice Admiral (R) Muhammad Fayyaz Gilani, High Commissioner, hoisted the national flag. A good number of Pakistani residents living in Maldives attended the ceremony.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Head of Mission Zulqurnain Ahmad welcomed the guests and extended felicitations on the occasion of Pakistan Day and Ramadan Kareem. He paid tribute to the forefathers whose sacrifices resulted in the creation of Pakistan on August 14, 1947.
H.E. Vice Admiral (R) Muhammad Fayyaz Gilani, High Commissioner, highlighted the importance of March 23 in Pakistan's national history. He said the day reminds Pakistanis of their past, invites them to ponder over their present state of affairs, and inspires them to build a prosperous future. He emphasized that as a member of the international community, Pakistan has played a responsible role in resolving global problems and establishing peace. He also paid tribute to the Kashmiri brothers and sisters who have been striving for their legitimate right to self-determination in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir.
High Commissioner Gilani extended Ramadan greetings to the Government and brotherly people of the Maldives. He noted that Pakistan and Maldives have enjoyed cordial relations and emphasized that the relations will further strengthen in the times to come. He wished the brotherly people of Maldives continued progress and development.
The flag hoisting ceremony and the speeches made at the event highlighted the strong bond between Pakistan and Maldives, and the celebration of Pakistan Day was a reminder of the shared history and cultural ties between the two countries.
