President Solih also reflected on the solid development partnership between the Maldives and China and conveyed his wishes to work together to deepen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
The Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives, HE Wang Lixing, responded to President Solih's message with a tweet, thanking him for his warm congratulations. HE Wang Lixing expressed her belief that the bilateral relations between the two countries would achieve more fruitful outcomes with the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries.
The Maldives and China have enjoyed a strong and friendly relationship, with China being a key partner in the Maldives' economic development. In recent years, China has been involved in several major infrastructure projects in the Maldives, including the expansion of Velana International Airport and the construction of a new bridge connecting the capital city of Male to the airport island of Hulhule.
