46 people welcomed the President at Thinadhoo
President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih's campaign trip to Gdh.Thinadhoo, the capital of Gdh Atoll, was met with mixed reactions as he was welcomed by 46 people, 16 of whom came from other islands. Gdh.Thinadhoo is the most populated island in Gdh. Atoll.
While the President was greeted by supporters, he was also met with protestors from the opposition. Many people protested his visit to the island, with the number of protestors exceeding that of supporters.
This reception is consistent with the President's campaign trail, as he has received relatively little support in population centers across the country. In almost all population centers, the President has been met with protests.
The President is currently contesting in the ruling Maldivian Democratic Party's primary to win the party's ticket for the upcoming presidential election. However, it remains to be seen whether these protests will have a significant impact on his campaign.
