State Media Under Fire for Campaigning for President Solih in Primary Campaign

The Maldives Public Service Media (PSM) has come under criticism for campaigning for President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih in the ongoing Maldives Democratic Party (MDP) primary campaign. The official Twitter account of PSM tweeted a video of the president at a campaign event with the hashtag #Ibu2023 and tagged the official Twitter account of the MDP.
Ibrahim Shuja, Vice President of the People's National Congress, (PNC), criticized the move as corruption and misuse of power and stated that he would submit the matter to relevant authorities. President Solih is currently running in the MDP's primary election for the party's presidential ticket.
While PSM has faced backlash for its support of the president, the president has also been accused of using state resources in his campaign. He has reportedly been traveling with taxpayers' money while holding campaign events. This has led to further criticism of the MDP and President Solih.
