President Nasheed and his ex wife Laila.
President Nasheed has stated that his ex-wife Laila Ali has been removed from MDP membership.
Speaking at a press conference last night, Nasheed said 39,000 party members who did not support Solih had been expelled from the party. He added that Laila was among them. He added that president Solih has now lost 70,000 votes, including those 39,000 members and those who support them.
"For example, we are saying those who have been removed include, Ahmed Abbas, Hamid Abdul Ghafoor, Dr.Nashid, and Laila" said Nasheed.
MDP's primary is scheduled to be held on May 28 and both President Solih and Nasheed have declared that they will win the election. President Nasheed has been mostly involved in the election campaign. President Solih's is being campaigned by his ministers and lawmakers.
