The Managing Director of the Road Development Corporation (RDC), Moosa Ali Manik (Mookey), has praised President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih for his leadership and governing style, saying that Maldivians are "in love" with the president.
Speaking at a campaign gathering organized by supporters of President Solih, who is a primary candidate for the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), Mookey emphasized that the MDP has not been taken over by anyone and that its grassroots members are still supportive of President Solih.
He pointed out that President Solih helped to bring the MDP back to power after seven years of being in the opposition in 2012, and highlighted the progress that has been made in terms of water and sanitation projects and the development of 40 harbours in the country. Mookey added that work is ongoing in more than 30 islands.
Many others at the gathering criticized former President Nasheed claiming that he no longer enjoys public support.
