Speaker of the parliament and President of MDP, President Mohammed Nasheed will be holding a campaign event on the evening of 27th December 2022.
The event will be held at Sultan Park and will begin at 20:30 hours. President Nasheed is contesting in ruling MDP's primary elections to decide the party's presidential candidate in the upcoming presidential elections.
MDP's primary will be held on 28th January 2023. President Nasheed has claimed that President Solih has removed over 40,000 MDP members who are less likely to vote for him.
President Solih is also contesting in the primary elections. Since assuming the position of President, President Solih has slowly hijacked MDP. Almost all the important party positions are now held by loyalists of President Solih.
