Pres Solih has expelled 39k MDP members who are less likely to vote for him: Nasheed
President Nasheed.
Speaker of the parliament and president of MDP, President Mohammed Nasheed has stated that President Solih has expelled over 39,000 members from MDP.
In a tweet today Nasheed stated that MDP is about free and fair elections and that a pre-decided voters list is integral for a fair election. Nasheed accused President Solih of expelling over 39,000 members from MDP in the past year.
"He has removed all the original party members less likely to vote for him" said Nasheed.
Both President Nasheed and President Solih are running in MDP primary to choose the party's candidate for the upcoming 2023 presidential elections.
President Nasheed has alleged that the membership registry of the party has been meddled with and that the election will not be fair if it is not corrected.
