Govt appoints new deputy finance minister at a time when budget is running out

A new deputy minister has been appointed to the Ministry of Finance at a time when the government is running out of funds and is spending by passing a supplementary budget.
Mariyam Manaarath Muneer, who was earlier a policy director at the ministry, has been appointed as the deputy minister. Manarat will get MVR 35,500 as salary and allowances with the rise in his position.
She was appointed to the position last month. Finance ministry has one more deputy minister along with Manarat. There are three ministers of state.
President Solih's administration creates many new political positions every month. This government has the largest number of political employees in the country's history. In the upcoming budget too, MVR 452 million has been allocated for the salaries of political workers.
