The government spokesperson at the President Office, Miuvaan Mohamed had falsified his financial statements.
According to Miuvaan’s financials published on the President’s Office website, although he claimed to have had no trade proprietorships, he had earned MVR 45,000 over the last 6 months in business profits.
Despite Miuvaan’s declarations to the contrary, there seems to be a business, Whiteston Media, registered under his name. Furthermore, a news outlet by the name of “Kaafu News” had been registered under Miuvaan’s Whiteston Media in October 2018.
Unfettered by the lack of traffic, Kaafu news is an active online newspaper, still updated daily to bring government propaganda. Kaafu news website runs advertisements for state owned enterprises and therefore, Miuvaan must be earning through that as well.
However, no detail of his business was included in his financial statements.
Miuvaan is a former news reporter at Raajje TV, where he had been an active enthusiast of spreading propaganda. Furthermore, he has continued in kind after accepting the post of spokesperson, attempting to mislead the people with lies.
