Two weeks since the iron at Iskandhar Koshi, used by SO Officers broke

It has been two weeks since the iron at Iskandhar Koshi, which was being used by Special Operations officers of Maldives Police Service broke, without any efforts to replace or repair the appliance.
An SO officer told TMJ that two weeks have gone by since the iron at the barracks accommodating their officers broke and they have been told by the administration that they cannot replace the iron due to budget constraints.
The officer said that it was causing them great difficulty as there are roughly 40 officers living at these accommodations and supervising officers have not offered any solutions.
Additionally, TMJ has learned that the washing machine located at a combined veranda used by all department officers had been out of order. An officer living at the veranda said that the washing machine has still not been repaired despite consecutive requests and they have resorted to using the machine at the SO barracks accommodations. SO officers are using the iron at the combined veranda.
The previous MDP led government was also found to be highly negligent to the needs of Maldives Police, where they left the officers with unrenewed kits for days. Furthermore, MDP MPs have humiliatingly suggested sending out police officers in khaki shorts instead of their usual blue uniforms.
Despite their officers being deprived of basic necessities, commanding officers of the police force have been seen traveling overseas on all expense-paid trips every month.
