Vice President of the opposition, Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), and the Mayor of Male’ City, Mohamed Muizzu affirmed that former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom will strengthen the relationship between China and Maldives upon his reelection next year.
Speaking at a ceremony held by the Chinese ruling party, Communist Party of China (CPC), under the theme of “Promoting Development Corporation, Together For A Brighter Future”, Muizzu said that the companionship between CPC and PPM had taught and benefited PPM greatly, over the last decade.
Additionally, Muizzu thanked CPC for their encouragement and support offered during the phases of socio-economic development of the Maldives.
“...For a decade and more, PPM has learned and benefited greatly from our strong partnership with the CPC, and thank you for your invaluable support and encouragement in our many successes in the contemporary socio-economic development of the Maldives.” Muizzu had said.
Muizzu stated that the friendship and cooperation between President Xi and President Yameen brought in a period of unparalleled developmental cooperation. He said that Velana International Airport and the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge, which completed its 4th year, had become a lasting symbol of their special bond, in addition to multiple roads, housing blocks and several other contributions, although invisible, had been equally vital to the country’s growth.
Highlighting the fact that October 14 would be the Golden Jubilee of China-Maldives Friendship, Muizzu said that Maldives will always have a tenderness and will always hold China in special regard.
