Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed says that he is ready to expose all senior figures at Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) for their transgressions.
This threat was part of the messages Nasheed sent to the Whatsapp group of MDP Advisory Committee, after his brother was arrested.
Nasheed claimed that he has pictures of President Solih having sex with a girl and threatened to leak the pictures.
Nasheed’s younger brother Nazim Sattar was arrested on charges of sodomy, a crime that is punishable under Maldivian law.
In the messages, Nasheed had leveled some serious allegations against President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, as well the judicial process.
Nasheed claimed that Criminal Court had refused to issue an arrest warrant on Nazim, citing lack of legal grounds, as requested by Maldives Police Service (MPS) on Tuesday evening. The warrant was issued on Wednesday, after MPS filed for a second time. Nasheed alleged that the Government had “fixed” a new Judge so the warrant could be secured.
He also alleged that if political influence had not been imposed on the case, then Nazim would have gotten justice. He alleged that President had interfered in judicial matters before, referring to the time President Solih had intervened in a matter involving a Parliamentarian.
