Member of Parliament for Maradhoo Constituency Ibrahim Shareef has defended the ties between Maldives and India, stating that Indian ‘goodwill and assistance is crucial’ to the Maldives.
He made the show of support in a tweet posted, following the Government’s decision to criminalize the India Out movement.
Shareef said that Maldives was more reliant on India, both politically and economically. He added that India had come forth to assist the Maldives, whenever the situation necessitated.
“In our efforts to defend n protect our country’s territorial integrity n independence, India’s goodwill n assistance is crucial,” he said.
MP Shareef is a staunch defender of India-Maldives relations. He has, on multiple occasions, defended the Government’s questionable decisions and secretive deals.
