Ooredoo has stated that the introduction of Starlink to the Maldives would not have too big of an effect on their revenue.
At the Annual General Meeting held at Crossroads, Ooredoo's chairperson Fatima Sultan Al Kuwari responded to a shareholder question that the company would not suffer losses as a result of Starlink. She said that the company has taken many measures to ensure that profits would remain unaffected.
Techonology Minister Aminath Shauna had recently been in talks with Starlink's Market Access Director Ryan Goodnight regarding introducing the service to the Maldives.
Starlink provides internet access through satellites, and is currently being provided to some countries around the world. The internet connection provided by Starlink, a company owned by Elon Musk, are expected to be cheaper and faster than conventional internet connections.
