President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has been photographed for the first time since his thyroid surgery in Singapore.
The twitter was published by former MDP Chairperson Moosa "Reeko" Maniku.
"I was able to meet the President after his surgery, and he was in good health", tweeted Maniku. "He said that he was good, with God's will, and he would soon return to the Maldives".
Maniku said that he had spoken about the internal politics of the Maldivian Democratic Party with the President, and said that the President, as a co-founder of the Party, supported Economic Minister Fayyaz Ismail's bid for the role of MDP's next chairperson.
President Solih traveled to Singapore on January 23, to treat an ailment related to his thyroid gland. Following medical instructions, he had undergone a three-hour surgery on January 25.
He was released from hospital last Tuesday. As of yet, it is unclear when he will be returning to the Maldives.
Vice President Faisal Naseem had assumed the President's duties while President Solih was in surgery. He was sworn in as President at 6 am. President Solih resumed his duties as President at 9:30am that day.
