Tourist Arrivals Rise By 44.8% From Last Year

The Maldives has received more than 200,000 tourists so far this year.
According to statistics published by the Ministry of Tourism, a total 201,126 tourists have visted the Maldives this year; and this marks a 44.8% increase from the same period last year.
The Ministry estimates that the Maldives has received an average of 4,469 tourists per day, and each tourist is estimated to have stayed for an average 9 days.
The Ministry's statistics show that in February alone, as of this Monday, the Maldives received 69,392 visitors.
The most tourists to the Maldives came from Russia making up 15.9% of all tourists. 11.5% came from United Kingdom, at second place. 8.4% came from India.
