Turkish Foreign Minister To Visit Maldives

Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, will be making an official visit to the Maldives.

A reliable source told The Maldives Journal that Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu would be arriving in the Maldives either today or tomorrow. He is will be making the visit on Foreign Minister Abdullah Shahid's invitation.

As official talks between the two countries have been planned, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu will also be meeting with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

This will be the first time in recent history that such a high-ranking official of the Turkish government would visit the Maldives. The last noteworthy visit was in 2005, when President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had visited the Maldives during President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom's administration.
