MP Mohamed Falah (MDP-Maafannu West) has claimed that the MDP has achieved 75% of the pledges that it had listed in the manifesto that had been issued for the 2019 Majlis elections.
Speaking at a campaign event to gain support for Mohamed "Rado" Rasheed, the MDP's candidate for the upcoming Komandoo bi-elections, MP Falah claimed that the citizens voted to give the MDP 65 parliamentary seats so that the MDP could fulfill its pledges. He claimed that the Party had fulfilled 75% of its pledges.
He said that a government existed so that the people could be provided with what they needed. He claimed that if there was a policy that benefited the common man, it had been implemented by the MDP.
He claimed that the MDP had initiated the Old Age Basic Pension after considering what senior citizens wanted. He further claimed that the MDP could not be questioned about what it had not done for the common man.
He used his time on the podium to launch several accusations against Moosa Fathuhy, the opposition PPM's candidate. He claimed that if Fathuhy were to be elected, he would do nothing but "steal".
Despite Falah's many claims, Falah's older brother Abdus-Sattar had masterminded and benefited from the bigger corruption case in Maldivian history; the FPID scandal. Some have accused Falah himself of also having benefited from the embezzlement.
