A case of a death threat sent to Dr Mohamed Muizzu, Mayor of the Male City Council, has been lodged with the Maldives Police Service.
According to reports, Dr Muizzu had received the death threat via a Facebook message. The Maldivian-language message had read "I will kill you".
Dr Muizzu has since lodged the case with the Police.
An official with the Male City Council has confirmed the story.
