No PPM Govt Will Demolish The Structures Of A Prior Govt: MP Saleem

MP Ahmed Saleem (PPM-Eydhafushi) has stated that a PPM government will not entertain the thought of demolishing any building constructed by a prior administration.
MP Saleem made this statement in response to Vice President Faisal Naseem’s comments that the Solih administration’s trajectory was not to commit “ugly acts such as removing roofs”. Vice President Naseem had referred to former President Abdullah Yameen’s response to the February 1, 2018 coup attempt.
“A PPM government will not consider the thought of demolishing a building constructed by a previous administration”, said MP Saleem. Such an act would be “despicable”.
At a rally termed “Kotharukoshi” (i.e. “Pigeon-Cage”), held at the Carnival area in Malé City, former President Yameen had explained his reasons for the state of emergency following the February 1, 2018 coup attempt. He had said that the coup had been motivated by cases of corruption regarding Supreme Court judges Ali Hameed and Abdullah Saeed, and that a state of emergency gave the executive branch the leeway to temporarily suspend certain laws.
