Tajikistan, in Central Asia, has decided on visa-free entry for Maldivian passport holders.
Currently, Tajikistan requires Maldivian nationals to apply for a visa prior to entry. However, on January 1, Maldivian nationals would no longer require a visa.
Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdullah Shahid had extended his gratitude to his counterpart, Sirojiddin Muhriddin, for the Tajik government’s decision.
Maldivians do not generally travel to Tajikistan, and it unknown if any Maldivian nationals currently reside in the country for any purpose.
