Govt Submits MVR2.24 Billion Supplementary Budget To Majlis

The government has submitted a supplementary budget to arrange for costs that were not planned by the budget that had been passed by the Majlis this year.
The supplementary budget was submitted with estimations for the coming year, attached to the proposed budget submitted last Sunday.
Although the Citizens' Majlis passed a MVR34.9 billion budget this year, the government had submitted a supplementary budget of an extra MVR2.24billion to handle costs that were not covered by the main budget. If passed, the total budget for this year would reach MVR37.1 billion.
Although the previous years' budget had estimated that the State would earn revenues and foreign aid that of around MVR21 billion, this value had not been reached in reality. The State's expenditure this year had also been exceeded due to the pandemic.
The Ministry of Finance's statistics show that more than MVR20 billion has been spent this year.
A MVR36.9 billion budget has been submitted to the Majlis for the coming year, and the proposed budget is currently under debate.
