India to Recall High Commissioner Sudhir Due to Allegations of Corruption

The Maldives Journal has learned that the government of India decided to recall Sunhay Sudhir the Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives from India due to allegations of corruption.
Sudhir was appointed as High Commissioner to the Maldive in 2019 and his term is supposed to end in 2019. However, last week the ministry of external affairs of India announced that they would be sending a new high commissioner to the Maldives. India has decided to appointed Munu Mahawar the Indian Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman as the new high commissioner to the Maldives.
According to reliable sources, Sunjay Sudhir is accused of taking kickbacks from Indian-funded projects in the Maldives. Sources confirm that some influential Indian contractors took the matter with the relevant authorities.
TMJ asked for a comment from the Ministry of External Affairs of India, however, they refused to comment.
High Commissioner Sudhir is highly unpopular in the Maldives as he has been repeatedly interfering in the domestic affairs of Maldives.
