An emergency motion was submitted to the parliament floor to expedite the civil servant salary increment.
The motion was submitted to the floor by Biledhoo Constituency Member Ahmed Haleem (Dhonbileh) stating that Civil Servant plays an important role in running the country.
“MDP always believed that the remuneration is inadequate to the work that is done by the Civil Servants,” Haleem said.
Haleem had called the government to expedited the process of the new pay structure and increase the salary soon.
The motion was accepted with the unanimous vote of 30 Parliament members who took part in the vote.
Due to the low remuneration, civil servants from across the country would join the silent protest to bring their concerns to the government's attention. If there is no increase in the salary the Civil Servants will stop providing services.
