CEO of MACL Gordon and President Solih
A close associatete of Maldives Airports Company Limited’s (MACL) CEO Gordon Andrew Stewart has been appointed as the company’s Consultant. The new CEO has been hiring numerous expatriates.
The MACL Consultant is named Lynsey W. A company executive anonymously informed TMJ that she has close relations with CEO Gordon. The source claimed that Lynsey will begin working on Tuesday. In addition to the consultant, other expatriates that Gordon has hired appear to have close relationships with him.
An executive reported to TMJ that the CEO continues to hire expatriates despite the company having Maldivians who are just as educated and experienced. They stated that the roles are being assigned without announcing the job vacancy. The informant also speculated that the vacancies are not being announced so that Gordon can hire whoever he wishes.
MACL accumulates the most revenue out of all state-owned enterprises. Many have expressed concern as the company’s highest tier and several executive positions are held by foreigners. It is noteworthy that the company was being run by Maldivians when the ongoing development project was planned and initiated.
The current government has hired foreigners in state companies except for MACL. The Managing Director for the Pension Fund is also an expatriate.
