Anas Appointed State Minister for Finance

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed Anas Abdul Sattar as the Minister of State for Finance. Anas was previously a Male’ Mayoral candidate.

Anas was presented his letter of appointment in a ceremony held at the President’s Office today. He has been the Secretary-General of Maldives Democratic Party (MDP) from 2015 to 2020.

The newly-appointed state minister was also elected an Executive Committee Member to the Maldives Bar Council. However, the bar council’s attendance sheet showed that Anas attended the least number of committee meetings.

While Anas has been appointed State Minister, President Solih has appointed former Deputy Male’ City Council Mayor Shamaau Shareef as Deputy Minister.

Anas Abdul Sattar has obtained a Bachelor of Laws LLB (Hons.) and has worked as a lawyer.

Despite promising not to create excessive political positions, President Solih’s government has formed more political positions than any previous government.
