Minister of State for Islamic Affairs Sheikh Ilyas Jamal has met major businessmen in Turkey, seeking investors for Maldives.
Turkeconom, an Arabic news outlet in Turkey, reported that General Manager of A&J Investments Dr. Jalal Kahil has met with State Minister for Islamic Affairs Ilyas Jamal and his team in Istanbul.
The news outlet reported that they discussed investment prospects in Maldives, and opportunities for foreign investors.
According to the paper, Kahil shared A&J’s investments in Turkey’s real-estate, education, tourism, and international trade with Sheikh Ilyas during a company dinner.
Kahil also claimed that the company is ready to establish strategic partnerships with the Maldivian government. Additionally, Ilyas shared concerns regarding ongoing projects in Maldives.
Sheikh Ilyas extended his thanks for the warm hospitality and reiterated that the doors of Maldives are wide open for foreign investors. The report further read that Ilyas said he would do everything he can to facilitate strategic partnerships.
Ilyas extended an invitation for Dr. Jalal Kahil to visit Maldives.
Dhiyares’ attempts to contact Sheikh Ilyas for a statement remain unanswered. Sources reveal that Ilyas is currently in charge of the National Centre for the Holy Quran.
Calls to obtain a statement from the Islamic Ministry were left unanswered.
