Security has been strengthened for the Minister of Foreign Affairs and President-elect of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly Abdulla Shahid.
Online news Sun reported that an unnamed government official claimed security has been increased for Minister Shahid.
Sun further reported that the source did not reveal the reason for increased security. According to the media, the security reinforcement was set in motion soon after Shahid’s election as President of the UNGA.
Although the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has yet to make an official statement, the paper stated that the minister’s security is managed by Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF).
MNDF has yet to release an official statement as well.
