Minister of State for Home Affairs and Spokesperson for Adhaalath Party Ali Nazeer has stated he does not wish to respond to politically-driven statements, and party tasks must now be prioritized.
He claimed he did not wish to respond to talks connecting Adhaalath Party to the “deep state”.
The state minister revealed that he is instead working on party projects, and focused on recruiting 10,000 members to the party.
According to some members of the Maldives Democratic Party (MDP), there is a deep state in Maldives connected to Adhaalath Party. However, Leader of Adhaalath Party and Home Minister Sheik Imran Abdulla has falsified the claims of a deep state.
Members of MDP have also speculated that Ali Nazeer underwent training with the Taliban, and Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed has requested for the matter to be investigated earlier this year.
It is worth noting that former President Nasheed has been directing an increasing amount of verbal attacks towards the Adhaalath Party, claiming the party is an extremist party.
Nasheed also accused the government of withdrawing support for the hate crime bill due to Adhaalath Party’s influence having seized the coalition government.
