Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom declared that while the tourism industry in Maldives will celebrate its Golden Jubilee next year, the aim is to ensure that the tourism sector brings joy to the public.
Speaking to Raajje TV, the minister accredited the success of the industry to its employees, and that he prioritizes the satisfaction of tourism sector employees. Regarding the staff fired from Hulhule' Island Hotel (HIH), Dr. Mausoom claimed the work to provide them with more opportunities is underway.
Dr. Mausoom stated that while the duration to establish minimum wage is to expire within the month, the ministry is working promptly to allow workers to obtain the maximum benefit.
The minister further stated that if the ministry maintains its pace, employees and businesses in the tourism sector will hopefully reach a higher standard within the next year and a half.
