Intelligence audit committee

Intelligence Audit Complete, Presented to President Solih

The intelligence audit regarding the May 6 terror attack on former President and incumbent Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed was completed and presented to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
President Solih on May 15 established a committee to conduct an intelligence audit to discern whether the national intelligence mechanisms had failed in the dangerous blast on Neeloafaru Hingun, near Majeedhee Magu while the former president headed to his residence on the night of May 6.
During a press conference at the President's Office on Tuesday, President Solih divulged that he had received information from the completed intelligence audit, and revisions will take place with the completion of the final report.
"Once the final report is complete, I will ensure that proper action is taken to rectify and improve intelligence mechanisms", said the president, during the press conference to announce ease in COVID-19 restrictions.
He also revealed that upon completion of the report from the parliamentary 241 Committee on National Security's inquiry into the security breach, appropriate amendments will be made.
While defense forces claimed they had no prior warning of the attack, Member of Parliament Ilyas Labeeb previously informed the 242 Committee that he had contacted Minister of Defense Mariya Didi regarding alarming information shared by a citizen.
The minister retaliated, stating that after MP Ilyas's warning, she had ordered Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) officers to strengthen President Nasheed's security.
