Sources have revealed that the Thilamale' Bridge project will be awarded to Afcons Infrastructure in India.
The company in 2014 had donated 15 million Indian Rupees to incumbent Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi's campaign.
Organizations advocating for transparency of elections and politics in India publicized evidence of all donations received by ruling party BJP from 2014 to 2015. The data recorded a donation of over 15 million Indian Rupees from Afcons Infrastructure to BJP.
Afcons Infrastructure Limited is a subsidiary of Shapoorji Pallonji And Company Private Limited. The company was founded by Indian-born Irish billionaire Pallonji Shapoorji Mistry. Afcons Infrastructure is also conducting the Addu road development project.
The Thilamale' Bridge project is to be funded by a USD 400 million loan from India. As stated in the agreement, the project will be assigned to an Indian company. It is speculated that projects funded by India in Maldives are granted to those with close relations to PM Modi for financial benefits.

3 years agoThis government is selling our country to inexperienced Indian companies. This will be a big mess to who ever comes to power. We will have to compensate them heavily for doing nothing, like we did for GMR. Seriously we need to voice India out.
