Israel Hayom, the most popular newspaper in Israel, reported plans of direct flights from Israel to Maldives.
According to Israeli travel agency Caminos, flights are to be operated every Monday from September 6 to October 4, with tickets priced at USD 995.
Operations are to be carried out by Air Seychelles. Direct flights from Israel to Maldives are around 8.5 hours long. Return flights to Israel are expected to be 10 hours long, including a 1-hour transit in Seychelles.
A media official at Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL) refused to comment on the matter.
Recently, an Israeli jet from Seychelles landed at Velana International Airport. The government and MACL have yet to speak on the event. In the past, former President Nasheed's administration had also attempted to operate flights from Israel to Maldives. However, the venture was abandoned due to public outcry.
