President’s Office has revealed the expenditure for 2 trips to Bangladesh and Qatar.
President’s Office disclosed these details following an RTI request under the Right to Information Act by Dhiyares News.
The expenditure is as follows:
Pocket money: 212,827.00
Incidental: 112,744.40
Stay and food expenditure: 569,450.58
Tickets: 2,146,845.48
Total: 3,041,876.46
It should be noted that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has had 3 state visits so far this year, which is Qatar, Bangladesh and the UAE. The President has a scheduled visit to India in the future.
During the first year of his term, President Ibrahim Mohamed travelled abroad often. Over a million dollars have been spent on his trips alone. The government has spent over 25 million on state trips so far this year. Inclusive of the trips abroad and the trips within the Maldives it should be noted that almost 20% of travel expenditure is solely the President’s.
In an interview given to Raajje TV, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had expressed his interest in traveling.
