The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has accepted the case of Hussain Shameem's alleged illict use of his position as Attorney General.
This case had submitted to the ACC by Malé City Mayoral Candidate Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s cousin, Ahmed Ghalib.
In the letter sent to President of Anti-Corruption Mariyam Shiuna, Ghalib stated that on the 5th of this April, Shameem wrote as a columnist for an online journal for free.
The letter noted that by writing the column under his own name, the Prosecutor General had used his office to help a private media outlet garner more readers.
Ghalib requested Shameem to be suspended from his position and have criminal charges held up against him.
PG Shameem has come under fire in recent days for his response to the ventilator scandal.
