Former Minister of Tourism, Ali Waheed, has left the country.
Ali Waheed departed around sunset. As there are seven charges of sex crimes, including rape, laid against him; his passport had been confiscated by the State. However, the Court had revised the decision to hold his passport after yesterday’s hearing when Ali Waheed presented a physician in court to testify that one of Waheed’s vertebrae had been dislodged.
Based on the physician’s testimony, the Court overruled the order to hold Waheed’s passport.
Some sources claim that he had travelled to the United Kingdom, where he had spent some years in self-exile during President Yameen’s administration.
Waheed had plead not guilty to the charges during the preliminary hearing.
