MP Ghassan Maumoon (Th. Guraidhoo) has stated that some people say that events in history recur, and he added that therefore, the government should protect their interests.
He said this with relation to the anniversary of February 7, 2012; when President Mohamed Nasheed, the current Speaker, resigned from the Presidency in the midst of protests that had erupted after he had ordered the Chief Justice of the Criminal Court be arrested and detained in an unspecified location without charge.
MP Ghassan said that February 7 had been the result of the government’s injustice, their neglect of the public, and their arrogance.
He stated that the mistakes of that fallen government can be seen from the current administration. He said that some people say that the events of history sometimes recur, and he said that the government should protect their interests.
