MP Ghassan Maumoon

Ghassan To Stay By Yameen's Side Even If Alone

MP Ghassan Maumoon (Guraidhoo) has said that he would stand by the former President Yameen Abdul Gayyoom even if he were the only one to do so.
He said this during a joint Council between the constituent parties of the opposition Progressive Coalition. The Coalition agreed upon resorting to street action to call for the former President's freedom. MP Ghassan has said that he would certainly go forward with the work.
MP Ghassan recounted a story of when he had first been elected for his Majlis seat. He said that the people of that island had refused to let him land on the island; they had done so by extending a rope across the harbour and by stoning their boat. He recalled that Yameen had stayed by his side, without food, for those 17 hours they spend on the boat.
MP Ghassan said that the work of the PPM would end only in 2023, when the people willingly re-elected Yameen to the presidency.
