During his visit to the United Arab Emirates between the 3rd and 5th of January, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had declined an opportunity to receive a COVID-19 vaccination, according to the RaajjeMV newspaper.
According to the RaajjeMV newspaper, which is funded and run by the ruling Maldivian Democratic Party: the President declined the vaccine because he did not wish to receive the privilege of vaccination before any of his citizens.
During his visit to the UAE, he met Sheikh Muhammad bin Zayd al Nahyan in his palace and held a discussion on many areas. President Solih’s trip to the UAE was a private one.
Even though RaajjeMV had claimed that President Solih had declined vaccination, this has not been corroborated by any official sources. In addition, there would be no official means of confirming if President Solih had been vaccinated on his private trip abroad.
