President Yameen refuses to go abroad even for medical treatment: Abdul Raheem

According to President of PNC Abdul Raheem Abdulla (Adhurey) President Yameen has stated that he will not flee the country when requested to go abroad for medical treatment.
President of opposition People’s National Congress, Abdul Raheem Abdullah (Adhurey) has stated that former President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Gayyoom will not flee the country for any reason.
Speaking at a rally held by the opposition Progressive Congress Coalition, Abduh Raheem who is the interim head of the opposition stated that of the coalition stated that he had the opportunity to meet President Yameen in prison. He noted that during the meeting President Yameen inquired about the state of the country.
Abdul Raheem stated that President Yameen had stated that he will not flee the country and declined to go abroad for medical treatment when requested to do due to his ill health. According to him, President Yameen expressed concern regarding the country’s sovereignty, Islamic unity, and country’s economy.
Abdul Raheem further stated that foreign states have tried to promote anti-Islamic values in the Maldives during President Yameen’s administration. However, he stated that when President Yameen did not encourage these acts these states have increased the purchasing price for Maldivian fish. He stated that President Yameen tried to find alternate ways to export fish due to this.
